What Do Psychological Safety and a Maze Game Have in Common?

Surprisingly, quite a bit! In the realm of change and the VUCA world, we often make decisions we’ve never made before, logically resulting in errors. Similarly, in navigating a maze, we must experiment through trial and error to find our way – there’s no other way. That’s precisely why we need psychological safety (PS).

In practice, it’s an environment where we’re not afraid to disagree, address challenging topics, make mistakes, challenge a colleague, take risks, and so forth.

As leaders, what more could we know if we had a higher level of PS? PS can be measured, and based on the results, steps can be proposed to enhance it.

I had the pleasure of conducting a workshop on this topic, along with my colleague, behavioral economist Pavel Žamberský, during a leadership team meeting at ORLEN Unipetrol.

Thank you very much for the invitation, Paulina Mazur.
