Common stereotypes about Gen Z – They avoid responsibility and hard work. They’re overly sensitive. They’re just weird.
Let me offer a different perspective:
1️⃣ They avoid responsibility and hard work:
- Do we give them authority?
- Do we show them the purpose of their work?
- Are we good at explaining why they need to do something?
2️⃣ They’re overly sensitive:
- How would we feel if we were told daily that climate change would end our lives?
- If we had to pay 8 million or more for a tiny apartment in Prague?
- If our parents were always at work and on calls during vacations?
3️⃣ They’re just weird:
- Didn’t our parents say the same about us?
- Could it be that they’re simply seeing the world at a different point in time?
- And are they not just different, but also inspiring?
I spoke about this and other aspects, especially in the context of generational diversity, at the HeRe for HR conference alongside Jana Tikalova, Petr Skondrojanis, Eliska Remesova, Petr Benes, and others. Thank you so much for the invitation!
